This is the condition of thyroid that produces toxic levels of thyroid hormones. This is called Grave’s disease. When a low level dose of Iodine-131(131I-Sodium Iodide) is given to the patient, the radio iodine is completely taken up by the hyper acting thyroid gland and gets destroyed by the beta rays. This is also known as bloodless surgery as this is the simple non surgical method of removing toxic thyroid gland.
